SALE! Original Light Reactive Paintings - One more week!

I'm back.

Well, not in spirit. In fact, I find this whole place irritating and cold. Life should be perpetually 79 degrees and served up in half a coconut shell. But I'll get to Hawaii in a few days. I'm still decompressing.

The short version is, it was 3 universes of awesome. Just so you know.

Did I mention I've been having a sale? No, no I didn't. Sorry. I was going to end the sale upon arriving home after vacation, but then I realized I hadn't actually told anyone about it. A super-secret unadvertised sale doesn't help me or anyone. Most of the smaller pieces have sold already, but there are still some nice mid-sized and larger paintings available. :o)


If you've ever wanted one of my paintings, now's the time! The truth is, I only have so many to begin with. I work slowly and don't have a huge stockpile of art, so when any one particular piece is gone, it's really gone. If you like one of them, get it now! It might never exist again. Colin always makes me promise to "paint another one" like those I've sold, if he was particularly attached to it, but I rarely do. My art takes so much time and personal investment that it's hard to want to paint something I've already invested so much emotion into a second time.




Everything is 20% off. I'm extending the sale for one more week, to give people a chance to participate. I'm happy to work out a payment plan for you, at the sale price. Payment plans are great!

Heh! I am so happy that Colin was born! :oD He turned 27 yesterday. (awwwww.....) I thought he deserved a cake. Not chocolate, because the poor kid is allergic. So sad.

By the way, I really love cracking eggs. It's thrilling. So is black frosting.

In other birthday news, today is my 1 year Etsy anniversary! :oD Thanks for a great year of a semi-empty storefront and not having enough paintings to hang in the coffee house because I sold them already. Etsy, you rock.

One of the things I love most about Etsy is the way independent artists support other independent artists. I know that I have already switched over to buying many things that I would normally buy elsewhere on Etsy instead. I much prefer to buy products through self-employed artists/designers/crafters than through someplace like.... Walmart, for instance.

Anyway, I digress...

Some color.

I've actually got 9 (!) paintings going right now. I think it's a record. Well, actually, the two color studies above are nearly finished, so really it's 7.

They're both studies of larger paintings that are also nearly finished. Yay! I'll list them (with the full set of pictures) in my Etsy shop tomorrow. I just added a little glass to them, for even more fun.

Of course, now that I've expanded my studio, I'm bursting out of it. I knew this would happen. The more space I have, the more paintings I start, and the more space is taken up.

Hurrah.

I've been experimenting with finely ground glass lately. It's interesting. Somehow, it's not sharp, but it does make interesting texture as well as making the painting super-uber sparkly (which is, unfortunately, absolutely impossible to capture in pictures.)

I did notice just today that there is something extra special about the way morning sunlight reflects off the glass. It's brighter and MUCH more sparkling than I'd even realized. I love the different colors of light. I should wake up earlier more often. (Yeah, right.)

I find it sort of funny that my mom used to make stained glass windows, and now I'm adding glass to my paint. Madness.

So cute. So deadly.

I fully, totally, completely adore these, and I have been downright giddy about them since he first showed me the original drawings.

FAT NINJA

(Oh, by the way, Colin draws fat ninjas. All kinds of them. Did you know that? Just FYI.)

I am thrilled to introduce Moonlight Serenade - Reprise, by C. Jacob Maddox.

This is our collaboration. Colin wanted to take one of my paintings (his current favorite, Moonlight Serenade) and remix it.

Each print measures 12x18 inches, with a white border for framing. It's printed on Kodak Supra Endura professional metallic photographic paper. The metallic paper is GORGEOUS, and actually makes the design look holographic or something. It's super neat. It looks liquid-y. I was really impressed with the quality when they arrived. :o)

I was also impressed with Colin's remixed design. Where does he get these ideas, anyway? Although, it wasn't really all that surprising. I've known he was this talented for years. :o)

As you can see, I'm adding a touch of my own. Each print will be detailed with my high-quality glow paint, so that it glows for hours after you turn the lights off.

The edition of prints will be limited to 50 and each will be numbered and signed by both of us on the back. When they sell out, that's it.

New Interview! The Indie Path

Yay! I was honored to be asked. I always find these interviews beneficial because it forces me to write about what I do, and improve my answers to questions that I often find I don't have answers for. It's very important to be able to communicate about your own art, and I have traditionally been rendered silent when asked. I learn more about why I do what I do myself!

Actually, this is called an "Indieview." Cause it's on The Indie Path. :o)

Kailua-Kona

(2 and a half years later)

You see, we got married there. Naturally, we have quite a spiritual connection with it.

Apparently, I am one of those people that likes humidity. I know this because I feel much healthier when its humid out. I realize some of you desert-crazies will disagree with me and want to go on about the nice, dry heat. But, I've lived in the desert. You're crazy.

I can breathe in Hawaii. Oxygen is an amazing thing. I plan to return with my creativity barometer on FULL. How could I not?

Etsy is a lot of fun. It truly inspires support for independent artists.

I like it because it gives me somewhere to exhibit my smaller paintings. The smattering of ideas visible in these smaller pieces really displays my creative process, ever-changing with my mood. They give me an outlet to be freely creative while I hone in on the idea.

Yesterday morning, I was selected for the Etsy homepage! I woke up to over 1000 views on that painting. It's a beautiful collection of art, I feel honored to be chosen. I also received many emails from people regarding my work, who discovered me from the front page. It was a fun morning, for sure!
